The Tactical Machining 80% Forged Lower Receiver is a raw, unfinished receiver made from 7075-T6 forged aluminum. This receiver is 80% complete, requiring final machining for functionality. It maintains mil-spec dimensions and tolerances, ensuring compatibility with standard AR-15 upper receivers and components.
Constructed from 7075-T6 aluminum, this lower receiver offers high strength and durability. The raw finish allows for custom anodizing or coating post-machining. The alloy composition ensures resistance to wear and deformation under stress.
Multi-caliber compatibility allows this lower to be used with various AR-15 uppers chambered in different calibers. It accepts standard AR-15 trigger groups, bolt catch, mag release, and other mil-spec parts. The design adheres to standard AR-15 specifications.
This 80% lower does not require an FFL transfer because it is not classified as a firearm. It ships directly to the customer. Final machining and finishing are the responsibility of the buyer, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
Jake Morrison’s shop notes
Noticed minor forging flash near the rear takedown pin lug on three of these—cleans up easy with a flat file. Trigger pocket dimensions consistently tighter than Anderson’s; reamer needed if running a drop-in cassette. Raw finish holds machining oil like a sponge—degrease twice before anodizing.
Tested: 2925 rounds bench-cycled. Pocket tolerance measured: within 0.0003″ on this batch. Weight (actual): 8.4 oz on shop scale. Units shipped from Phoenix in January 2026: 94.
